Reports: Real Madrid interested in signing £100 million Manchester City superstar

Real Madrid v Las Palmas - La Liga
Zidane will be thrilled if the deal for Kevin De Bruyne does indeed go through

What's the story?

It has not been the best of seasons so far for Spanish giants Real Madrid. Los Blancos have struggled to hit the heights of their previous season and Zidane reportedly is looking to sign some marquee players in the upcoming transfer window.

If latest reports from reliable Manchester City fan website City Watch are to be believed, the 12 time European Champions have contacted Kevin De Bruyne's agent, Patrick De Koster about the Belgian playmaker's availability and interest in making a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 26-year-old midfielder has arguably been Manchester City's best player so far this season and Zidane believes that the Belgian will certainly add an extra dimension to Real Madrid's jaded midfield.

Huddersfield Town v Manchester City - Premier League
De Bruyne is reportedly happy to stay at Manchester City

Although Manchester City are by no means a selling club, a bid in the excess of £100 million could get them thinking. However, if the same report is to be believed, there is good news for Manchester City fans as De Bruyne himself is not too keen on a move to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old is extremely happy playing under Pep Guardiola and in fact, should be signing a new contract in the coming months to ward off suitors like Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain.

The heart of the matter

Undoubtedly one of the best playmakers in world football at the moment, Kevin De Bruyne under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola has taken his game to new heights. The Belgian already has 10 assists this season and is rated very highly by all the top clubs across Europe.

Blessed with excellent passing skills, vision, technical ability and an uncanny knack of scoring crucial goals, the 26-year-old will certainly prove to be an exciting addition to the star-studded Real Madrid squad.

However, with De Bruyne more than happy at Manchester City at the moment, the move does not look likely to happen in the near future.

Author's take

With Luka Modric now on the wrong side of 30, De Bruyne will certainly add some verve and zest to the Real Madrid midfield. However, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be determined to hold on to their prized asset and Los Blancos will find it extremely tough to complete this move in the coming months.
