Robert Lewandowski retracts on his comments about signing for Bayern Munich

Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has back-pedalled on his statement that he will be signing a new contract with Bayern Munich in January.

Following Dortmund’s 2-0 win over 1860 Munich, the 25-year-old was quoted as saying by Eurosport that a contract with Bayern Munich will be confirmed as soon as the January transfer window opens.

The Polish international has now retracted his comments by saying: “Looking at the video [of his interview] again, I became frightened of it. What I really wanted to express right after the game was that I will be able to pen a new deal in January at the earliest.”

Speaking to Bild, he added: “I only wanted to answer the question of when I will finally be taking a stand on my future. Like I have said many times, I want to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Everything else I can only say in January.”

Lewandowski is on the last year of his contract with The Black and Yellows and has made no bones about the fact that he doesn’t want to renew his contract with Dortmund.
