According to Metro, Bayer Leverkusen Sports Director, Rudi Voller mentioned that the club has decided to bid for Kevin De Bruyne in January and would try to rope him in.
The Bundesliga club have long been linked with the Chelsea winger, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, and Voller insists Leverkusen will make a concrete effort to sign the Belgian when the transfer window re-opens in January.
He said: ‘We made no secret of our interest in Kevin De Bruyne right from last summer. There are many clubs interested in him.
‘Regardless of our league position, we’re always looking for new players.
‘It’s possible that we do sign somebody this winter, but then again, we could go into the second half of the season with the same team and look to do something next summer.
‘If you do anything, then it’s got to be a top alternative to what we’ve already got here.’
Kevin De Bruyne had mostly remained out of favor under Chelsea Boss, Jose Mourinho. The Belgian has not played a full 90 minutes yet at the London club.
