Sevilla’s young left-back Moreno has been subject to a lot of transfer talk

Chelsea are lining up a big money move to land Alberto Moreno from Sevilla in the summer, with the Blues having accepted that Ashley Cole will not be extending his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season, according to the Express.

Cole’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season and it looks as though there will be no offer of a new deal, with it expected he will leave for pastures new, with both Liverpool and Real Madrid keen on hiring Cole’s services on a Bosman free.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been playing at left-back for the Blues for the majority of the season, but it is believed that Jose Mourinho would prefer to be fielding a specialist left-sided defender in that position.

Moreno has been a long-term target after emerging through the ranks at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with a queue of big name clubs lining up to prize him away from debt-riddled Sevilla.

Chelsea have given up hope of signing Luke Shaw from Southampton due to competition, with it believed the English youngster has his sights set on a move to Manchester United in the summer and will face another battle if they are to land Moreno.

Real Madrid also hold an interest in the Spanish international should they opt for a younger alternative to Cole, but Chelsea are hoping to steal a march on the European giants by sealing a £12million deal early into the transfer window.
