The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D clinches the number one spot

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D

February 13 was one of the biggest days for Nintendo as it saw the release of the much awaited New Nintendo 3DS XL in the US along with a variety of other games. The New Nintendo 3DS XL fared well with respect to sales and so did one of the games that were released during this time.

After the release of Ocarina of Time 3D in 2011, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was the game all the fans were waiting for. The fans came in numbers to purchase the game and it has been named the top selling game in all of February according to the newly released NPDs. Majora’s Mask 3D finished the month at #1 with 515,000 copies sold both physically and digitally. This game has gone on to become fastest selling Legend of Zelda handheld title ever.

These numbers are probably because the game was not a New Nintendo 3DS XL, unlike the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. This game was similar to the non-exclusive Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate that sold 290,000 copies physically and digitally, and was placed at the #10 spot.

According to VentureBeat, the top 10 for February was as follows:

  • 1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D
  • 2. Evolve
  • 3. Dying Light
  • 4. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • 5. Grand Theft Auto V
  • 6. NBA 2K15
  • 7. Dragon Ball Xenoverse
  • 8. Minecraft
  • 9. The Order: 1886
  • 10. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
    • The Order: 1886 fell rather low on the last because it had been released for a single platform. Evolve finsihing at number two is no surprise given the hype that was surrounding the game. Dragon Ball Xenoverse was the biggest surprise as the game finished at the number seven spot even though it was released on 24th February.
