Billy Horschel recently spoke out about the bickering going on between the LIV Golf fans and the PGA Tour fans which is disrupting the peace in the game. The need for the different competitive golf tours to come together is increasing by the day as the world of golf finds itself feeling rather broken.
Billy Horschel said that he agrees with the fact that the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf Series need to unite in the long run to keep the game intact. However, Horschel also went on to say that the fans, particularly those in support of LIV Golf, continue to be shrouded in hostility, which is not helping the situation at hand according to him.
"On the PGA Tour side some of the bickering has gone away, but I think on their side they're still, you know, taking shots here and there and I'm not saying the players are taking shots but some of the supporters of the LIV Tour are taking shots. That all needs to stop."
Horschel said that for golf to grow, it is important for fans to keep their differences aside.
Billy Horschel agrees with Rory McIlroy's stance on the unification of LIV Golf and PGA Tour
Rory McIlroy stressed the importance of the two tours coming together earlier this year. Billy Horschel agreed with the Northern Irishman and stated that the players who joined the Saudi-backed circuit should be back on the PGA Tour upon unification. Billy Horschel said (via Golf Magic):
"If we're going to get a deal with PIF, then we need those guys to be a part of the PGA Tour, because that's going to instantaneously increase the value or at least the perception of the value of the PGA Tour."
In recent developments, Rory McIlroy is reportedly considering re-joining the PGA Tour Policy Board to help with the merger talks after quitting last year. McIlroy said that he would like to help move along the process, and with his experience and connections he feels like he could get the conversation going once again.
While it is not in McIlroy's hands to get back on the Policy Board, he has put himself out there and said that he would be willing to come back if that was what the people wanted.
