PKC the defending champions have not had the best of starts this time around. Their bowlers were quite expensive and they did also drop a lot chances which came by to them in the field. Still, early days in the tournament and PKC have a lot to work upon.
Bilal, unfortunately, lost his wicket batting on 55 runs in the 8th over. As Bilal was gone, the question came to mind as to who would be able to get CRC over the line now. It was Baseer (32 of 17) who then arrived at the party and tonked the PKC bowlers in the death to get his side just across the line
Basit tried to join in on the act as well but he lost his wicket after tonking a maximum as well. Bilal continued to play the lone hand went on to score a half-century as well. He singlehandedly got his side closer to the target.
Sarfaraz was starting to flex his arms and find the boundaries alongside his skipper but lost his wicket eventually. Bilal although did not give in as he continued to tonk the boundaries and motored the score for CRC.
Coming into chase 117 runs, CRC had a shaky start as they lost an early wicket in the form of Jaweed. CRC skipper Bilal and Sarfaraz were living dangerously as they were running the risky singles and were almost run out a few times
WOW, What a final over that turned out to be. Once Bilal was out, it looked like it was the end of the road for CRC but Baseer rose to the occasion and tonked the boundaries needed. In the end, he is able to get his side over the line in a nail-biting contest.
Over: 10 | Summary: 0 2 1 1 4 1 Bowler: Ziaurahman Shinwari Score: 117/4
9.6 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Baseer Khan, a low full toss, hardly guided away to covers, and both the batters are off for a run. A sensational win this, and Baseer has taken them over the line. Extraordinary stuff this!
9.5 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Baseer Khan, FOUR! He's found the gap. A poor delivery in this situation. Short pitched delivery coming into the right-hander who pulls it with comfort and makes sure it's fine enough to beat the man at deep square leg. SCORES ARE TIED!!
9.4 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Mohammad Waqar, full length delivery just under the bat, tipped away to cover for a single. Baseer back on strike. Can he do it? 5 runs needed in 2 balls
9.3 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Baseer Khan, a low full toss, that is chipped over the bowler for a mere single. Baseer has given the strike to the new batsman. Down to 6 runs needed in 3 balls
9.2 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Baseer Khan, good length delivery outside off stump, punched to the covers for two quick runs. Down to 7 runs in 4 balls now
9.1 Zia-ur-Rahman Shinwari to Baseer Khan, a loose full toss on the thighs that is going down leg, but flicks the shirt while doing so. No run.
Zia-ur-rahman Shinwari comes on to bowl the final over
9 runs needed from the last 6 balls. Baseer rises to the occasion in place of his skipper Bilal who lost his wicket and was doing the most damage. He tonked a couple of sixes which has kept his side alive in this contest.
Over: 9 | Summary: 6 2 6 0 2 1 Bowler: Aqib Iqbal Score: 108/4
8.6 Aqib Iqbal to Baseer Khan, full on the pads, nudged away to mid on region for a single and Baseer will keep the strike.
8.5 Aqib Iqbal to Baseer Khan, DROPPED! A miscued shot from Baseer that should have been caught, but unfortunately to their horror has been spilled and Baseer will survive.
