Chamari Atapattu and Tahlia Wilson ensured that the Stars did not even have a sniff of this game in the second innings. Putting up such a modest total against the Thunder spelt danger in the first place for the Stars, but their bowlers did not quite live up to the expectations or put the Thunder under any sort of pressure whatsoever.

Atapattu and Wilson put up a dangerous partnership that virtually took the game away from the Stars. The Lankan opener was on fire throughout the game and made sure that she punished all the looseners that came her way. In fact, she converted some good deliveries and hit them for boundaries too.

Wicketkeeper-opener Wilson, only 24, was brilliant with the bat in hand too. Her ability to time the ball well and find the gaps at the right moments come in very handy for the Thunder. However, it was young Phoebe Litchfield, one of the best batters in WT20s at the moment, to seal the deal for her side with a six. She came to bat at Atapattu's dismissal.
