Gold is a mineral that can be found in both the Overworld and the Nether. It is naturally generated as gold ore that can be then smelted into gold ingots. Gold ingots can then be crafted into blocks, armor, and tools.

It is most commonly found underground but can also be generated in structures such as bastion remnants, ocean monuments, and ruined portals. Gold has multiple forms in Minecraft. It starts out as a block of gold ore that is mined with a pickaxe to drop raw gold. Raw gold is then smelted into a gold ingot with the help of a furnace. Gold ingots are the most common state of gold, and are used for making tools, armor, food, and other blocks.

It can also be used to make other blocks such as gilded blackstone, powered rail, the bell, and light weighted pressure plates. The most popular and useful items that can be made from gold are golden apple, golden carrot, enchanted golden apple, glistering melon slice, armor pieces, and tools.
Gold is an interesting metal that is mostly used for food, as the tools and armor made from it are quite fragile and lose durability quite quickly. However, the tools made from gold are quicker than tools made from other materials.
