Britain’s 18-year-old Danny Kent won the Moto3 race in Japan on Sunday for the first Grand Prix victory of his career with Spaniard Maverick Vinales coming second and Italian Alessandro Tonucci third.

Kent, on a KTM, clocked 40 minutes 02.775 seconds to triumph at the Japanese Grand Prix, with Vinales and Tonucci — both on an FTR Honda — at 0.260 and 2.352 seconds behind the Briton.

German KTM rider Sandro Cortese finished sixth and extended his championship lead to 255 points, 56 points ahead of Vinales, with three races to go in the season.

Spain’s Luis Salom crashed out and slid to third spot in the standings at 194.
