MONTREAL, CANADA – JUNE 10: Kimi Raikkonen of Finland and Lotus drives during the Canadian Formula One Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on June 10, 2012 in Montreal, Canada.

The Lotus F1 Team has exceeded many expectations this season and currently holds the third place in the Constructors’ Championship. However, team owner Gerard Lopez remain realistic and seems to acknowledge that anything can still happen. The team members try not to let it get to their heads and humbly hope for at least a top four finish in the Championship at the end of this season.

Lopez said: “Finishing top four is still the aim and I think the target is realistic. If we can get more we will take more, but the top four is the objective. And I think right now, we are one of the very good teams because of two drivers being able to score points.”

The team’s both drivers have had great performances in the races so far, but despite several podium finishes, they were unable to take the top podium spot. Despite his humble attitude, Lopez did say a race victory is not a fairy tale dream for drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean as they came close several times. He said: “Things have to come together differently. In Canada, Kimi’s differential did not work so that is half a second and he should have been second row. Romain made a mistake on his new set of tires and that did not help.”

“If you start seventh and eleventh, you can take the podium. You could win the race, but it is difficult. For us to win a race the whole package has to work and there are many people trying to do the same thing. But as long as both drivers keep scoring points then I am happy with that.”
