
Coleridge Bernard "C. J." Stroud IV is a professional American Football quarterback for the Houston Texans in the NFL, as of 2024. Stroud was drafted by the Houston Texans with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. During his debut season, Stroud in a 21-19 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, completed his 177th pass attempt without an interception, surpassing the previous NFL record held by Dak Prescott for the most throw attempts without an interception to start a career in NFL history. Stroud concluded the season with 499 passes attempted and 23 passing touchdowns and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and Pro Bowl.
Stroud played collegiate football at Ohio State University. Stroud redshirted in his freshman season and played only eight snaps and a touchdown. In 2021, Stroud recorded a total of 441 passes attempted, six interceptions and 44 passing touchdowns, with that, he was voted in fourth place for the Heisman Trophy. After a brilliant 2021 campaign, Stroud concluded the 2022 season with 830 passes attempted, 12 interceptions and 85 passing touchdowns. After the season ended, Stroud declared that he would forego his final two years of college in order to join the NFL draft in 2023. Prior to college, Stroud played high school football at Rancho Cucamonga High School.
