C. J. Stroud, short for Coleridge Bernard Stroud IV, is an American football player who plays as the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans. He was picked second overall in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. In 32 games as of January 2025, he has a 19–13 record; further, according to Pro Football Reference, he has completed 655 passes on 1,031 attempts for 7,835 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, and 90 sacks. He was also named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, earned a spot in the Pro Bowl, and was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He was born on October 3, 2001, in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Since early in his school career, Stroud dominated the opposition with his pinpoint accuracy and overall skills. Coming out of Rancho Cucamonga High School, he was already a four-star recruit. He played as quarterback for Ohio State University and held many of their records. He was named a second-team All-American in 2022 and a third-team All-American in 2021. He also earned the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year award in both 2021 and 2022, as well as the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year honor in those same years.
