Christian McCaffrey’s Trade History
Christian McCaffrey at Super Bowl LVIII - San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs

If we are talking about the most dominating Running Back of the current generation in the NFL, Christian McCaffrey may top everyone’s list. Being drafted to the Carolina Panthers back in 2017, McCaffrey is the only running back in NFL history to have multiple seasons with 100 or more catches. In just 57 games in 2021, he broke the record for the quickest player in league history to accumulate 3,000 rushing yards and 3,000 receiving yards.

The only thing missing from Christian’s accolades list is the MVP and a Super Bowl title. As a San Francisco 49ers player, he is certainly trying to add those awards to his list as well.

How many teams has Christian McCaffrey played for?

Christian McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers from the Carolina Panthers late in the evening on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Carolina got a host of draft picks in exchange for the trade including a second, a third, and a fourth-round pick in 2023 out of the deal, along with a 2024 fifth-rounder.

San Francisco already had another talent in their team, Deebo Samuels who was primarily a receiver also tasked with running the ball occasionally. As for Carolina, the team was trying to rebuild and as a result of this, they wanted to trade away the star running back.

The 49ers saw the immediate impact after adding Christian’s talent, they went on an 11-game winning streak and many called the trade “Perfect,” for the 49ers. McCaffrey was a major part of the team's success, especially in the 2023-24 season when the 49ers reached the Super Bowl. While he may have missed out on the Championship last season, there is no doubt that McCaffrey and the 49ers will be back in the mix of things as the 2024-25 season gets underway.
