Daniel Jones at New York Giants v Washington Commanders

American football quarterback Daniel Jones presently competes for the National Football League's New York Giants as of 2024. The sixth overall choice of the 2019 NFL Draught was Jones. He had previously played at Duke University before joining the NFL. Jones has made some expensive errors in his first three seasons with the Giants, but he has also displayed glimpses of how amazing he truly is. He completed 3,027 passes for 10, touchdowns, and interceptions in 2022.

Daniel Jones attended Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he showcased his exceptional talent, amassing 6,997 passing yards and 98 touchdowns during his high school career. Despite these impressive statistics, he faced limited recruitment and was not ranked by Rivals.com, a reflection of the often unpredictable nature of college recruiting. Originally, Jones committed to Princeton University, where he intended to play college football. However, he made a surprising choice to forgo this opportunity in favor of walking on at Duke University.

Daniel Jones’ draft year

Daniel Jones was the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft and was selected by the New York Giants. The Giants traded up to select Jones, giving up their first-round pick (17th overall) and three third-round picks (66th, 82nd, and 95th overall) to the Arizona Cardinals.

Jones made his NFL debut in Week 1 of the 2019 season, and he started all 16 games for the Giants that season. He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month in September 2019.

Jones has so far had a decent career, in his first three seasons. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement before he becomes a star quarterback in the NFL.

Daniel Jones with the New York Giants

Picked by the NY Giants in 2019, Jones has experienced a mix of ups and downs in his career. He has shown flashes of his greatness but has also made mistakes. Being a team's quarterback is not an easy task. Despite this, he possesses the talent to potentially become a known figure in the NFL.

In his 3 seasons as a starting QB; Jones’ statistics are; 8,292 yards, 36 touchdowns and 35 interceptions. He has also rushed for 1,000 yards. Scored four touchdowns on the ground. His passer rating currently stands at 84.2. This puts him below the league average.

Throughout his career, Jones has had some games that fans will never forget. In one matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 he led his team to victory with a performance of 402 passing yards and three touchdowns. Similarly in another game during the year 2021 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he orchestrated a comeback leading to a Giants win. That being said he's also had some rather less-than-ideal performances, on occasion.

During the 2020 game, against the Washington Football Team, he only managed to throw for 102 yards and ended up with two interceptions resulting in a victory for Washington. Similarly, in the 2021 game against the Baltimore Ravens, his performance wasn't much better as he threw for 133 yards. Had two interceptions leading to the team's loss.

There has been criticism regarding Jones’ decision-making abilities and judgment calls. Some have also pointed out his lack of mobility. However, there are aspects to consider well. He is skilled at taking charge. Possesses a throwing arm.

It's still too early to determine whether Daniel Jones will be a star or a bust. If he focuses on refining areas of his game there is potential for him to reach heights. Specifically, he should concentrate on enhancing his accuracy and decision making skills while also working on improving his mobility. By addressing these aspects he stands a chance of becoming an exceptional quarterback in the NFL.
