Tyshun Raequan "Deebo" Samuel Sr. popularly known as Deebo Samuel is an American Football wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. The 6 ft wideout was taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft by the 49ers with the 36th overall pick. The South Carolina native has been First-team All-Pro once (2021) in his five seasons as a Niner. He was an honorable mention in the top 10 wide receivers survey done by ESPN in July 2024 where opinions of various executives, scouts, and coaches were asked. Deebo did his secondary education at Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina. He then committed to playing college football at the University of South Carolina, where he played for 5 years, starting from 2014 to 2018. He went on to play 30 games for the Gamecocks after getting redshirted in his true freshman season in 2014. He totaled more than 2000 yards as a receiver while also accumulating more than 1,200 yards as a kick returner in college.
Deebo entered the league on fire as he had more than 950 yards through passing and running games in 2019. He amassed only 400 total yards in 2020 as he played in only 7 games that year, due to being placed on the non-football injury list and the reserve/Covid-19 list. The 2021 season was the first time he crossed the 1,000-yard mark as he caught 77 receptions for 1,405 yards along with 395 yards on the ground (both career-best). However, he has failed to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark since then. Nevertheless, in 2023, he piled up more than 1k yards both through air and ground. By the end of the 2023 season, Deebo has garnered more than 4,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards. He has managed to get into the endzone 38 times in his first five years with San Francisco.
