J.J. McCarthy is an American football quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings as of the 2024 NFL season. The Vikings selected him with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. As of October 2024, he is placed on the injured reserve list after tearing his meniscus in his right knee. Before embarking on his NFL journey, he played college football at the University of Michigan from 2021 to 2023.

McCarthy accomplished quite a lot individually but also helped his team succeed equally. He led the Wolverines to a National Championship in 2023 (Michigan’s first championship since 1997).
