Jalen Milroe is an American college football player who played the 2024 season as a redshirt junior for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Milroe spent the whole 2021 season as sophomore quarterback Bryce Young's backup at Alabama. He started the 2022 season as Bryce Young's backup. Milroe completed 11 throws for 149 yards and a touchdown in Alabama's spring game. He was a recipient of the William V. Campbell Trophy list and also the Pop Warner College Football Award during the 2024 season.
Milroe was the team's reserve quarterback, and the starting position was in favour of Tyler Buchner. After Buchner struggled against USF, Nick Saban, the head coach, declared that Milroe would be the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, heading into Alabama's Southeastern Conference (SEC) opener against Ole Miss the following week. In a 42-28 victory over Louisiana State University (LSU), Milroe threw for 219 yards and ran for a career-high 155 yards and four touchdowns. The next week, Alabama defeated Kentucky 49-21, owing to a total of six touchdowns by Milroe.
