James Cook is an American football running back for the Buffalo Bills as of the 2024 NFL season. The Buffalo Bills selected him as the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He is the younger brother of Dalvin Cook, who has played seven seasons as a running back in the league as of 2024. James Cook played football at Miami Central High School before playing for the Georgia Bulldogs in college.
In 2018, Cook joined the University of Georgia where he played on the Georgia Bulldogs football team for the next four years. He was used mostly as a backup for the first couple of years and had little production for the team. He had his best year as a senior where he rushed for over 700 yards and also had 284 receiving yards. In 2021 he also became a CFP national champion. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 2022 NFL draft. After rushing for more than 500 yards in his rookie year, Cook went on to have a breakout season in 2023, as he racked up 1,122 yards on the ground, which also got him selected to his first Pro Bowl. He has played two seasons in the professional league and amassed 1,629 yards on the ground by the end of the 2023 season.
