Joshua Patrick Allen is an American football quarterback for the Buffalo Bills as of the 2024 NFL season. The Bills selected him with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. As of Week 5 in 2024, Allen has completed 2,068 of 3,276 passing attempts, throwing for 175 touchdowns and 78 interceptions. He has gained 23,648 passing yards and rushed for 3,771 yards, scoring 55 rushing touchdowns. Notably, Allen was named a Second-team All-Pro in 2020 and was selected for the Pro Bowl twice in 2020 and 2022. He is off to a hot start in 2024, totaling 23 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions through the first 11 weeks en route to a 9-2 record.

Allen played college football at Reedley College in 2014 and then at the University of Wyoming from 2015 to 2017. According to Wyoming's official website, he totaled 5,833 yards of offense, including 5,066 passing yards and 767 rushing yards during his time there. He played at Reedley College for a single season, leading the Reedley Community College offense, which averaged 452.2 yards of total offense per game. Before committing to Reedley College, he played high school football at Firebaugh High School, from which he graduated in 2014.

Before entering the NFL, Allen suffered several injuries during his college years, including a shoulder clavicle fracture on September 12, 2015, when he broke his right clavicle in seven places during his first career start at Wyoming. He also experienced a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder on November 11, 2017, which caused him to miss the final two regular-season games, although he was able to return for the bowl game. Additionally, Allen missed four games of his sophomore high school season due to a broken right collarbone on October 28, 2011.

During his rookie season in 2018, Allen suffered an elbow injury during a game against the Houston Texans in Week 6. He completed 10 of 17 passes for 84 yards and had 20 rushing yards in that game. The injury caused him to miss four games before he returned against the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he completed 8 of 19 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown, while also recording 99 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 13 carries.

He concluded his rookie season as the first quarterback in Bills history to lead the team in both passing and rushing during a single season.

Head Cranial Concussion (2019)

In the 2019 NFL season, Allen suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit from New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones, which forced him to leave the game in Week 4. Despite the injury, he returned in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

He finished the 2019 regular season with 3,089 passing yards, 20 touchdown passes, and nine interceptions, along with 109 carries for 510 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.

Turf Toe Injury (2021)

According to Draftsharks, Allen sustained a turf toe injury during Week 14's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Arm Elbow Injury (2022)

Josh Allen had a partial elbow tear during a game against the New York Jets in Week 9 but didn’t miss any starts in 2022. In that game, he ran for two touchdowns and completed 18 of 34 passes for 205 yards and two interceptions, leading to a 20–17 loss. Despite the injury, he started the next week against the Minnesota Vikings.

Hand Injury (2024)

According to the Bills' injury report available on their official website, Allen was listed with a left-hand injury for Weeks 2 to 5 of the 2024 NFL season. However, as of October 2024, specific details regarding his injury have not been disclosed.
