Joshua Cordell Jacobs is a professional American football running back for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders selected Jacobs as the 24th pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, with a pick acquired from the Chicago Bears in the Khalil Mack trade in September 2018. With seven touchdowns and 1150 rushing yards at the end of his first campaign, Jacobs was named to the NFL All-rookie Team and received the PFWA Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. The following season, Jacobs made 15 starts and finished with 273 running attempts for 1,065 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, and 33 receptions for 238 receiving yards. The Raiders announced that they would not exercise the fifth-year option on Jacobs' contract, after he was named to the First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl in 2022. However, in 2023, the Raiders applied the franchise tag to Jacobs, and the two parties agreed to a one-year contract. Jacobs signed a four-year contract with the Green Bay Packers in 2024.
Jacobs attended the University of Alabama for his collegiate football career from 2016-2018. Jacobs has 85 running attempts for 567 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie campaign. Due to a hamstring injury, Jacobs missed the first two games of the 2017 season. However, Jacobs won the SEC Championship Game's Most Valuable Player award during his junior year. Jacobs played high school football at McLain High School, where he scored a total of 56 touchdowns, prior to playing collegiate football.
