Josh Simmons is an American football offensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs. The 32nd overall pick from the 2025 NFL draft played college football at San Diego State Aztecs and Ohio State Buckeyes. A native of San Diego, California, he attended Madison High School before transferring to Helix High School. Simmons committed to San Diego State in 2021. He redshirted as a true freshman, then played in all 13 games for the Aztecs in 2022 at right tackle. In 2023, he transferred to Ohio State, switched to left tackle, and again started all 13 games. In 2024, he started the first six games before a season-ending knee injury against Oregon.

Despite the injury, he was an honorable mention All-Big Ten. Simmons played 32 straight games during his college career, 13 at San Diego State and 19 at Ohio State. Josh Simmons was one of 329 prospects invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. At the 2025 NFL Combine, his Next Gen Stats score of 78 ranked 7th overall among the offensive tackles. On October 12, 2024, during a game against Oregon, Josh Simmons tore his left patellar tendon. The injury required season-ending surgery. He underwent the procedure in Los Angeles with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, a well-known orthopaedic surgeon. Reports say Simmons is "way ahead of schedule" in his recovery. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Simmons is expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 season. Rapoport also noted that Simmons' medical reviews at the combine went very well. Simmons was ranked No. 31 in Daniel Jeremiah’s prospect rankings, according to the official NFL website, and he went exactly where Daniel Jeremiah projected.

“I felt like a little pop,” Simmons said about the injury. “I thought somebody hit the back of my knee at first—until I tried to get up.” (via Eleven Warriors)
