Parsons earned the Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP and Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year.


Parsons entered the NFL after his second year at Penn State. The Cowboys selected him 12th in the first round. The rookie Parsons led the Cowboys with 13 sacks and 84 tackles. He became the first Cowboys defensive rookie of the year since Emmitt Smith in 1990.


Parsons is a versatile linebacker, pass rusher, run stopper, and covering linebacker with a knack for blitzing well. Parsons can make plays all over the field and change the game with one play. Micah Parsons dominated Penn State football for two seasons. He became a two-time All-Big Ten Conference and 2019 consensus All-American as well as a Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year and Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP.


Parsons started 12 games as a freshman in 2018 and had 72 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. The Athletic and Sporting News named him Freshman All-American.


Parsons started all 13 games as a sophomore in 2019. 109 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles; Micah was Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year, Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP, and consensus All-American. He did not win the Heisman award but was a finalist nevertheless.


Parsons ruled Penn State. He was a multi-positional linebacker. He was a disruptive run-and-pass blitzer. Penn State had the #1 defense in 2019 because of Parsons.
