He led the team to an undefeated regular season and a dominant 44-16 win over Alabama in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship, becoming the first true freshman to lead his team to a national title since 1985. He was named Offensive MVP of the game and finished his freshman season with 3,280 passing yards and 30 touchdowns.

Trevor Lawrence, who was born in the city of Knoxville, spent only about six years there as the family moved to Cartersville, Georgia in 2005. As a result of which, he attended Cartersville High School where he played basketball along with football. At Cartersville, he had tremendous performances as he led the team to 41 straight victories from his sophomore year all the way to his senior year. Those wins also included two state championships and four region titles. Easily regarded as a five star recruit, and one of the best quarterback prospects of all time, he decided to continue developing his game at Clemson University.
