After months of speculation, the NFL announced on September 8th, 2024 that Kendrick Lamar is the half-time show for Super Bowl LIX. That came despite reports and rumors indicating that Lil Wayne was the frontrunner for the show as it was hosted in his hometown of New Orleans. However, the gig went to Lamar instead and he is set to perform at New Orleans’ Caesar’s Superdome.

The 37-year-old is a 22-time Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winner for Music, winning five Grammys at the 2025 Grammys alone including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Lamar has previously headlined the Super Bowl LVI (2022) halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, with the performance winning critical acclaim and three Primetime Emmy Awards.

During Kendrick Lamar’s announcement in January 2025, he revealed that SZA will be the special guest at the half-time show for Super Bowl LIX. The 35-year-old singer-songwriter has worked on numerous collaborations with Lamar including “30 for 30,” “Luther,” “Gloria,” “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind” amongst others. Not only that, SZA is currently on tour with Lamar.
