Former GB news host Laurence Fox faces flak for his post on X that appeared to suggest that the UK should bomb the migrants in the English Channel next after the country's airstrike attack against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

On January 11, 2024, UK and US armed forces launched a joint attack against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have been bombarding commercial ships on the Red Sea in a ploy to aid Gaza and stop ships from traveling to Israel. The Houthis attack has been ongoing since the Israel-Palestine conflict that started on October 7, 2023.

This is not the first time 45-year-old Laurence Fox has found himself embroiled in controversy. The former actor was fired from his television spot and arrested by the Metropolitan Police after he posted a video allegedly encouraging people to damage Ulez cameras used by Transport for London.

Netizens are outraged by Laurence Fox's brazen post on X

While it takes a lot to shock the internet, Laurence Fox's latest tweet has stirred the pot. Netizens are outraged by Fox's comment to supposedly bomb the English Channel. Here are some of their reactions:

The Houthis are a resistant movement in Yemen who have declared themselves as allies of Gaza and have vowed not to stop bombing the Red Sea till a ceasefire is reached. This has severely affected naval trade and commerce.

According to CNBC, the rebels were warned a week earlier to stop their attacks or "there will be consequences." On January 9, they launched their biggest attack yet using drones, and on January 11, they set off an anti-ship ballistic missile into the Gulf of Aden.

Shortly after this, the UK and US armed forces counterattacked, launching more than 100 precision missiles at over 60 targets. The Houthis leader, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, has promised an escalated retaliation as unrest grows in the Middle East.

Laurence Fox, ex-husband of actress Billie Piper, is the leader of the Reclaim Party

Former actor and broadcaster Laurence Fox was married to actress Billie Piper of Doctor Who fame. They share two children, Winston and Eugene. According to The Daily Mail, Fox is a right-wing political activist and founded the Reclaim Party in 2020.

During the pandemic, he was a very vocal anti-lockdown protestor and urged his followers to disregard the government's social distancing protocol. He is also infamously known for his racist and anti-LGBTQ commentary.

According to The Daily Mail, Laurence Fox's list of controversies grows, and the latest one that got him fired from GB News in October 2023 was him belittling female journalist Ava Evans by calling her "little woman" on air.

"Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman ever," he said.

He later apologized for his comments but refused to accept them as misogynistic.

October 2023 got worse for Laurence Fox as he was also arrested for conspiring to commit damage to Ulez cameras and encouraging an anti-Ulez vigilante group to do the same.

"I encourage them to tear down every single camera there is and I will be joining them ... I am pretty close with several and I will be out there with my angle grinder," he said.

Around 510 cameras were stolen or vandalized between April and August of 2023, The Daily Mail reported.
