The Authority Storyline has been dominating WWE television since the past year. It kicked off in all its true colors after Summerslam last year. Since becoming a heel stable, attention was inevitably drifted away from the then WWE Champion Randy Orton to the self proclaimed power couple of which Stephanie McMahon came out with brilliant performances. But due credit goes to Triple H as well. Here are five reason why he has been and will always be a great Authority figure.

#1 His Reputation

What’s the general perception that man hardcore fans have about Triple H? There is a certain prop called a ‘shovel’ that plays a major role.

Triple H is considered to be a burial machine. The general perception about him is that he is a major roadblock to many promising futures. He buries potentially great superstars away and does what he thinks is best for business. What is even more rage inducing is that he is married to the daughter of the man who owns this company. This has given him a very polarizing reputation. That makes it easy for people to pour on the hate.

Triple H has some major control over his character and his influence backstage is only getting stronger.

#2 The Heelness

As mentioned earlier, his reputation really amps up the booing parameter. And Authority figures are supposed to be the bad guys, that’s why they’re in ‘Authority’.

But his mere presence is quite daunting. All those frowns and grins and snobbishness suits him well. It seems like it comes to him most naturally and easily. It is so easy to hate him merely because he has so much power.

His character looks down upon everybody. His sheer arrogance of being a self proclaimed king, his entrance theme, his clear lack of respect for his opponents and rebels, his ‘best for business’monologues and his capability of being everpresent in every frame combines to form a great heel formula.

#3 The Social Media factor

Since early this year, the WWE has made agiant leap towards the online world. Their social media oresence has been widely expanded.

What really helps this presence is the fact Triple H has been picking terms used online on to WWE television.Terms like ‘The Yes Movement’, ‘The Reality Era’ etc. have been straightaway picked up from the Internet Community. This has given fans all the more reasons to discuss about WWE online.

#4 His antics

Some heels are booed because they’re plain annoying and people would just want them to go away, some heels are booed because they are hard to ignore and people would actually buy a ticket to boo them and annoy them. For that to happen a heel has to be interesting.

Triple H has adapted the latter role many times in his career, the crescendo of which happened in the Attitude Era.

What the hardcore fans might find interesting is his response to Cena or him owning babyfaces with one liners or short remarks.

#5 His knowledge

Triple H was never and is not considered to be a major technical wizard, that’s why it was pleasantly surprising to his match at Wrestlemania this year. But he has been in the industry for so long and in many of his interviews he actually makes sense.

It seems that his reputation is uncalled for because he is able to convince you what makes a WWE superstar tick with the audience. His knowledge gives him some credibility to be running things in the WWE. The documentary on the Shield shows him speaking about all three of them just like any hardcore fan would.
