More from the story of Ryan Reynolds bidding for Ottawa Senators

Ryan Reynolds was seen meeting with Ottawa mayor Mark Sutcliffe on Thursday (March 30), accompanied by Remington Group president Chris Bratty. This was Reynolds' second visit to Ottawa after attending a Senators game in November 2022.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman confirmed that there are "somewhere around six" serious bidders for the Senators. Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly met with Sutcliffe and the National Capital Commission on Monday to ensure open lines of communication.

Reynolds partnered with The Remington Group in February in a bid to purchase the Senators. Rudolph Bratty, chairman and CEO, his brother Jerry Bratty, chief operating officer, and brother Chris run The Remington Group. They have been developing land in Ontario for the past 65 years.

Reynolds has publicly expressed interest in buying the Senators since the fall but acknowledged that he would need partners to do so. Reynolds co-owns Welsh soccer club Wrexham, which plays in England's fifth tier.

Bettman said in a press conference ahead of the Senators' game against the Florida Panthers:

"The state of the Senators' sale process is a testament to the market, the great fanbase, and the support the team gets from the community."

Reynolds is also expected to help build a new production studio in Markham, Ont., according to Ontario Minister of Tourism Neil Lumsden.

On March 15, Reynolds sold Mint Mobile to T-Mobile for around $1.35 billion in a cash-and-stock deal.
