Kyle Dake celebrated securing spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics following the recent demise of his father

Kyle Dake, who recently endured the death of his father, was seen celebrating with his family after securing a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dake competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team Trials, held at the State College, Pennsylvania, on April 19 and 20, 2024. He secured a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after his bout with Frank Chamizo.

Three summers later, at the 2024 U.S. Olympics Wrestling Team Trials, the five-time world championships medalist defeated Jason Nolf, a fellow Nittany Lion Wrestling Club wrestler, in the 74kg category in the best-of-three final match with 2-0.

Nine days before his recent victory, Dake lost his 62-year-old father, Dough Dake, who was battling an illness. Following his victorious bout in the Pennsylvanian State, he was seen celebrating with his beloved family, including his wife, Megan Dake, and his two children.

Kyle Dake has had a remarkable run in the 74 kg wrestling category in the 2024 season ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris. He secured a gold medal at the 2024 Pan American Wrestling Championships held at the Expo Mundo Imperial in Acapulco, Mexico from February 21 to 24.

Kyle Dake has secured two gold (2018 and 2019) in the 79 kg and two gold medals (2021 and 2022) in the 74 kg at the world championships.

After booking his ticket for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Dake confessed to missing his father during a post-bout interview with Flo Wrestling, stating it was the first time he competed without his father being present to cheer and support. Further, the 33-year-old wrestler also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete.

“It is pretty hard for me right now,” said Dake (00:10). "This is the first time I had to do this without him. I just really miss him and wish he was here."
“Went through a lot, trying to help him. Seeing him. It gives you a lot of perspective on how much of a game this is. You just go out, do your best, be grateful for the opportunity. Yeah, it's just hard. It's just hard."

Kyle Dake holds an exceptional record of securing four consecutive gold medals at the Pan American Games from 2021 to 2024 in the 74 kg category. Given his exploits in the particular weight category, he will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics as a formidable contender.
