Breanna Stewart will be leading the New York Liberty versus her former WNBA team, the Seattle Storm, on Monday in Brooklyn. New York’s injury list is clean so Stewart will be raring to suit up against a franchise she spent six years playing for. The Liberty are hoping to stay unbeaten this season when they host Jewell Loyd and Co.

Stewart’s availability will be a big problem for Seattle particularly if Nneka Ogwumike, the Storm’s star forward, isn’t 100% healthy. Ogwumike sat out her team’s 84-75 win over the Washington Mystics less than 24 hours ago due to a sore ankle. “Stewie” will likely dominate on both ends of the court considering the status of Seattle’s frontline.

What happened to Breanna Stewart?

Breanna Stewart has been incredibly healthy over the past two seasons. She suited up for the Liberty in all 40 games last year and missed just six in 2022 when she was still with Seattle. Stewart’s health was the biggest key to why she was a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year award and won her second MVP.

New York will be desperately hoping the injury bug doesn’t bite her for the team to at least return to the championship round.

The last time Stewart wasn’t on the floor to help her team was in May 2022 when she had to sit out due to health and safety protocols. Since taking her talents to the Big Apple, she hasn’t been held out for any reason.

Breanna Stewart stats vs Seattle Storm

After spending six years with the Seattle Storm, Breanna Stewart signed with the New York Liberty in 2023. She encountered her former team four times in the regular season and averaged 23 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 steals. “Stewie” has been quite efficient versus Seattle, hitting 49.0% of his shots, including 38.9% from behind the arc.
