What's next for Big Show?

WWE Smackdown Live Tour In Durban

This week’s Raw might see Big Show’s role gain ample significance. The Corporation has begun its heel policies with full swing. Will the Big Show turn heel or will he be a whimpering, suffering babyface who eventually tries to fight his demons?

After getting publicly humiliated by Stephanie McMahon who sarcastically tried to inspire him into providing his services for the Corporation and have a match with Bryan (she reminded him of his advices backstage towards the ’12-year-old’ Stephanie, though she’s just 4 years younger than him), the Big Show seems to have been in a dilemma in choosing between decimating Bryan and subsequently their ‘friendship’, and supporting his family. His bosses harassed him into submitting to their orders and got away with their whims and fancies, and the Big Show was left a miserable picture of a weeping giant.

Logically, the entire locker room can turn on the Corporation and leave them with nothing, but logic sometimes fails to garner a foundation. The entire locker room will still be summoned to watch another Daniel Bryan beatdown, witness another firing and all that superficiality related to the fictional set up of the WWE.

The question still remains whether Big Show will turn heel or remain face. This storyline, as I have stated in many of my other articles, is capable of bringing many young stars into focus and maybe skyrocket their careers. It is an exciting time to see new talent and also for character development.

A pro like Big Show who’s been with this company for a while now seems to be a tepid option for a significant, important character in the storyline. Big Show is a respected superstar but in his past many appearances he has rarely, except as an analyst on pay per views, been able to garner interest in his character. A predictable heel turn during the Lauranitis regime, an equally predictable finishing move like the KO and slowing ring movements don’t help his case.

After Mark Henry was reported to have suffered an injury, the storyline of having him teamed with his former arch rival Big Show to take on the Shield was scraped, and obviously Show was allowed to carry the segments with the new dictatorial regime on his own. Only time will tell how the Big Show’s character will be handled on television but I hope he doesn’t enjoy most of the spotlight. WWE has its share of heels for now; I don’t think adding Big Show to the mix is essential.

So all this can lead to Big Show attacking the Corporation and eventually getting vanquished by the Corporation, which will maintain the heel heat on Triple H and Co. So the Big Show remaining face, in my opinion, seems to be the best option for this storyline and subsequently for the business as well.

Hence, the coming Raw might victimize Big Show even more, causing him to act against his evil bosses and maybe finally see him ending the night triumphant rather than Triple H and his team.
