WWE Top 5 Rumors of the Week and Analysis : 4 August, 2016

Huge plans for WrestleMania

We moved one step closer to Backlash with the WWE programming that happened this past week. While Monday Night Raw did not have a pay-per-view to work towards, they made up the ground by crowning a new WWE Universal champion and that too, in the most unexpected fashion possible.

Monday Night Raw was clearly the winner of this week’s dog race and what happened during the show worked as a domino effect and sparked some wild rumors all over the Internet.

The return of Triple H and the crowning of Kevin Owens, as mentioned earlier, was indeed the major talking point but there were some other interesting rumors as well. Here is a list of all most talked about ones and their analysis.

Huge plans and returns in the Women’s division

Early return?

The Women’s division on Monday Night Raw is set to witness some interesting storylines. Bayley was initially brought in to be the replacement for Sasha Banks but as far as the rumors go, Sasha is expected to return soon. WWE is indeed planning a showdown between Bayley and Charlotte for Clash of Champions, but as things stand now, a title change is not at all happening.

This adds more confusion to the whole scenario and if Sasha is indeed returning, the three-way battle between Sasha, Bayley and Charlotte would be an interesting one to watch. Elsewhere, the plans that WWE had for Charlotte vs. Dana Brooke at WrestleMania 33 is put on hold for the time being but things could change as we move forward.

Daniel Bryan situation

Will stay away from in ring action

After the Talking Smack promo that Miz delivered, there were some rumors about WWE planning to bring Daniel Bryan into the squared circle. These rumors suggested that WWE was planning to have another feud between Miz and Bryan as the duo had a lot of history between them. However, this is not the case as it seems.

WWE never had the intention of having a Miz – Bryan program and what Miz did was for the purpose of gaining heat for this feud with Dolph Ziggler feud. As far as Bryan’s contract is concerned, it is no longer frozen and it runs all the way to 2018.

TNA to undergo major change

Dixie out?

TNA underwent a major change by appointing Billy Corgan as the president and rumors suggest that Corgan is in complete charge of the promotion now. Dixie Carter was named the Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer after Corgan’s promotion. According to the latest speculation on the rumor mill, this was done to save Dixie’s face as she was on her way out of the promotion.

Dixie being done with the company might be received with warm hands by one portion of the wrestling fan base but at the same time, they will be hoping to see changes from Corgan’s side. The rumors also suggest that Corgan is facing trouble running the company due to the lack of revenue generated.

Match planned for Triple H at WrestleMania 33

WrestleMania bound

The return of Triple H was indeed one of the biggest talking points of last week’s WWE programming. Hunter came back and helped Kevin Owens win the WWE Universal championship and in turn, got a huge reaction. Despite the baby face reaction that he garnered, Triple H will remain as a heel and WWE is planning to turn Seth Rollins baby face.

There were plans of having a Triple H vs. Seth Rollins match at WrestleMania 33 and WWE sowed seeds for the same with what happened at Raw this past week. Hunter vs. Rollins is a money match and it will be seen as a move in the right direction by WWE fans.

The major rumors surrounding Kevin Owens’ win

Everyone knew the plan

Kevin Owens winning the WWE Universal championship broke the Internet last week. There were rumors that suggested Owens did not know about the plan but it was not apparently the case. Everyone involved in the segment knew what was going to happen from the start itself. Also, WWE was planning to bring back Triple H later but the injury of Finn Balor changed these plans.

The current plan is to have Owens feud with Seth Rollins for the championship while keeping Finn hot by giving us his injury updates. Finn will be out for around 8-9 months although he mentioned six months and when he returns, we can expect him to get a major push.
