Mojang has released three different capes as a part of Minecraft's 15th anniversary celebration. These capes include a Twitch exclusive cape, a TikTok exclusive cape, and a general green creeper face cape. However, since the entire community is trying to get these items added to their accounts all at the same time, there have been some server issues.

Many players have reported getting a "Cape could not be redeemed" error message. Everything players need to know about this issue, such as its cause and potential solutions, can be found below.

Mojang hasn't put out an official statement as to why the capes are proving difficult for some to claim. However, it can be assumed that a huge portion of the community is trying to claim them all at once.

This means that Mojang servers are almost certainly overloaded due to all the requests, causing timeouts and failed redemptions on Minecraft's official website.

Potential solutions

There are a few different things to try to get around this frustrating error. The first and easiest option is to go to the game's website on a mobile device, sign in, and try to redeem a cape there. It's also worth trying different browsers on PC. For example, try redeeming a cape on Google Chrome or Firefox rather than Opera GX or Microsoft Edge.

This might seem like a minor change, but different browsers handle requests differently, meaning pages run differently on them. Sometimes, that can be enough of a change to sort out issues.

Unfortunately, that's the only real thing to try since this is most likely a server issue. It'll all come down to Mojang's servers finally processing all the requests they're getting. This means it can actually be counterproductive to repeatedly use this method, as it's adding more requests to an already overloaded server.

There's several weeks of time to redeem the capes, so load up into a world and kill a few hours playing. Then try again to see if things have calmed down. This would be a great opportunity to try out some of Minecraft Tricky Trials' experimental content since the end of May is typically when the next large update's release date is announced.

As previously mentioned, there are three different capes for the 15th anniversary. There's a Twitch exclusive cape, obtainable by watching Minecraft content creators stream the game. It features a purple heart on a white background.

There's also a Minecraft TikTok cape, which can be obtained in the same way but on TikTok. This cape features a creeper face in the faux 3D style the app's logo is rendered in.

Finally, we have the generic green creeper cape. The item features the face of Minecraft's underutilized creeper on a background of a creeper's colors. Unlike the other capes, this one is redeemable simply by visiting the game's official website and hitting a button; no extra work is required.
