Kevin Durant sarcastically fires back at Evan Turner for his blunt comments on 2017 Golden State Warriors: “Awwww, it wasn’t fair???”

When Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder blew a 3-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 Western Conference semifinals, the last thing anyone expected was for KD to join Golden State. Regardless, that's exactly what KD did, parting ways with Russell Westbrook and joining a superteam that had just posted the best record in NBA history.

Although the Warriors came up short of capturing NBA gold after defeating the Thunder, the team was fresh off a 73-9 season. With a Big Three of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, plus Andre Iguodala, the Warriors really didn't need another asset to contend. To make things possible, he signed an incredibly cheap two-year, $54.3 million deal.

Over the next two seasons, the team won back-to-back titles before an infamous verbal altercation between Durant and Green marked the beginning of the end. After losing the 2019 NBA Finals to the Toronto Raptors, Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets in a sign-and-trade deal that ended his stint with Golden State.

Although his time in Golden State had come to an end, the criticism hadn't. Years later, Durant has continued to receive criticism for the decision to take the easy route by joining a championship-caliber team. Just recently, NBA vet Evan Turner spoke to Andre Iguodala about the "lame" move.

“Y’all won a lot of championships, but it was lame as f**k … I’m talking about when you lame a** n***as did that for two or three straight years," Turner said. "That was lame as f**k. Word to mother, I would never go recruit no K.D. I don’t give a damn who was there.”

That drew plenty of attention from Kevin Durant, who fired back on Twitter, mocking Turner and fans who think the same way.

"Awwww, it wasn't fair???" Durant tweeted.

Fortunately for the rest of the league, Durant's time with the Warriors came to an end as the result of an infamous argument between Durant and Green during a timeout. With the team's 13-game win streak being snapped by the Sacramento Kings, Durant and Green got into a heated argument.

Fast forward to later in the season when Durant was mad that Green didn't pass him the ball late in a game. Hot mics picked up Green telling Durant that the team didn't need him to win. In the eyes of many, that was the turning point that resulted in Durant choosing to part ways with the team.

When the two men sat down to discuss the situation last year, Durant said that he didn't leave because of Green. As he pointed out, Warriors coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers didn't handle the situation well.

“It wasn’t the argument,” he said. “It was the way that everybody ... Steve Kerr acted like it didn’t happen. Bob Myers tried to discipline you and think that would put a mask over everything.

“I really felt like that was such a big situation for us as a group, the first time we went through something like that. We had to get this s**t all out.”
