Luka Doncic Injury Update: When can 4x All-Star line up for Dallas Mavericks? Jason Kidd shares latest update on his return

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd gave an update Luka Doncic's injury status, saying that the star player won't be joining the team on its upcoming road trip.

"Luka's out — left thigh, so he's day-to-day. We'll see how he feels. He will not go on the trip." Kidd said.

Doncic won't be available to play at the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. The Mavs host the Grizzlies on Monday.

The three-time All-Star was injured in Wednesday's 113-106 loss at the New Orleans Pelicans, leaving in the third quarter after straining his left thigh. Although Dallas outscored the Pelicans 41-30 in the fourth quarter, New Orleans held on.

"We all can see that he's not moving well — shooting, defense — it's affecting everything," Kidd said. "He's trying to fight through it and help his teammates, but he had to leave there. Hopefully, it's not something serious. We have a couple days here before we play Memphis. Hopefully, he's back soon."

There is no timetable for Doncic's return. Despite his MRI results showing that his tests were negative, the three-time All-NBA selection is still feeling some discomfort with his left hamstring. The Slovenian star was obviously feeling uncomfortable as he only made four of his 14 shots against New Orleans.

The 2022-23 NBA season has turned out to be one of the most exciting ones, for good reason. The elevation of Luka Doncic's game to a new level is one of the main reasons this season has been entertaining. The Mavericks star has had a few games where he has played as if he's in a video game simulation.

Doncic is averaging 33.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.0 assists while shooting 50.0%, including 34.9% from 3-point range. Although his efficiency from downtown hasn't been at his best, it's still one of the main reasons for his outstanding performances.

It's hard to pick which game for him this season was the most iconic. But his display in a 126-121 overtime win over the New York Knicks, during which he dropped 60 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists, is possibly his most well-known performance. He hasn't topped it off, and it's unimaginable to think how he'll be able to perform better than that.
