Football - The Chelsea Way: adidas and Chelsea FC back to train Delhi’s young footballers

New Delhi, 31st May 2013: The world’s leading sportswear brand and the newly crowned Europa League champions were back with the adidas Chelsea FC Foundation Clinic. After a successful kickoff in 2012, the finest youth coaches from Chelsea FC were in the city once again to give young footballers an unmatched football training experience at the Ambedkar Stadium today.

The foundation clinic was preceded by a 2 day scouting camp on the 25th and 26th of May, at Modern School, Barakhamba – Close to 400 kids from leading schools in the city, including Vasant Valley, GD Goenka, Shri Ram and British School showcased their skills at this camp. This scouting camp yielded 180 of the best footballing talent from the city to be coached by the Chelsea FC youth coaches. The Chelsea FC youth coaches also held a master-class training session with the respective school coaches, sharing essential training techniques to improve talent coaching and development.

The 3 day clinic was supervised by Coach Julian Hart. Julian has been involved in football for over 35 years playing at all levels and in many different countries. He is presently Head Coach – Chelsea FC College Academy and Head Coach – Chelsea FC Elite Training Centre. After hanging up his boots he became a full time manager and coach for both his son and professionally at Chelsea FC Foundation.

Speaking at the clinic, Coach Julian Hart said, “We are excited to be back in India and share our expertise to develop football in this country. The skill and passion that these kids have shown has been extremely encouraging and we believe there is great potential among these young talented footballers. The right training methods and regular counselling can really help these youngsters improve their game to world class level. Delhi is our first stop in India, but we will back later this year to coach aspiring football stars of Mumbai too.”

Building up on this action packed season, adidas will continue to spread the football fever in India and go all in for Blue this summer.
