The Footy Mumble: Balotelli out, Cole's tweet troubles!

Swindon banned from transfers

League One side Swindon F.C have been hit with a transfer embargo after exceeding financial limits set by the Football League.

Clubs can spend only up to 65% of their revenues on wages and transfer news.

Although Swindon were inside this limit, a recent tribunal asked them to pay £350,000 for midfielder James Collins and defender Troy Archibald-Henville.

This pushed them over the limit and hence the embargo. The rule is part of Financial Fair Play and many hope that UEFA will be as strong in their policies as the Football League when it comes to punishing clubs, with teams like Man City, PSG and Chelsea all under the scanner.

Suarez, van Persie may get bans

Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie could be in trouble with the FA, with Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew respectively, calling for the players to be banned.

Luis Suarez, unsurprisingly was in the midst of yet another diving controversy, falling theatrically in the penalty box.

Tony Pulis called the dive an embarrassment and called on the FA to ban such players.

Robin van Persie, on the other hand, was caught on video, seemingly elbowing Yohan Cabaye in the face.

The referee did not seem to have noticed, and if he confirms in his match report that he didn’t see the incident, the FA can take action which could result in a ban for up to 4 matches.

Mancini wants Mario out…

If there has been one person who has been the biggest supporter for Balotelli during his time at Manchester City, it has to be Roberto Mancini.

The Italian has stood with him through all the juvenile controversies the striker has got himself into but even he may have run out of patience.

It seems like Balotelli’s storming down the tunnel, after being substituted against Sunderland was the last straw, with Mancini finally giving up on the Italian.

And it seems like £35 million-rated striker Radamel Falcao will be the replacement, if rumours are to be believed, which started after Mancini dropped in to watch the striker score for Atletico Madrid against Malaga on Sunday.

… but may be stopped by Arsene Wenger!

Yes, that’s right! City’s plans to get Falcao and sell Balotelli may be hindered by Arsene Wenger, of all, who allegedly, has also targeted the Colombian striker.

And believe it or not, Wenger is supposedly ready to cough up the £35 million required to land the striker.

Well, we all know how believable this story is, don’t we? We at the Mumble promise to ‘eat our hats’ if this transfer goes through!

Ashley Cole in trouble… again!

It seems like Ashley Cole just can’t stop getting into controversies on Twitter, with the latest being an argument with Alan Shearer, who called for the defender to be banned by the FA.

Cole responded to the comments by re-tweeting comments by one of his followers, who called him a ‘glasshouse’, referencing to an incident before the 1998 World Cup when Shearer kicked Neil Lennon’s head.

Shearer was not charged by FA, as they were apprehensive about him withdrawing from the World Cup.

However, Ashley Cole will have no such luck, as the FA has now charged him for improper conduct and ‘bringing the game in to disrepute’, for his comments on the their decision to ban Terry on charges of racial abuse.
