BTS became the first non-English group to have all members debut as soloists on Billboard Hot 100 and UK Official Singles Chart

The Korean pop industry has come a long way on the Billboard charts in the fifteen years since the early international pioneers of K-pop, BoA and the Wonder Girls, made their respective marks on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2009. This was taken further by South Korean veteran rapper and music producer PSY who peaked at #2 on Hot 100 with his song Gangnam Style in 2012 and Gentleman at #5 in 2013.

Meanwhile, on May 18, 2024, Bangtan Sonyeondan became the first non-English group to have all seven members chart on the UK Official Singles Chart as solo artists as well as the only K-pop group to have all members debut on Billboard Top 100 as soloists.

The band's frontman Kim Namjoon aka RM entered the chart with his latest track Come back to me which was released on May 10, 2024. The pre-release track hails from his upcoming second album Right Place, Wrong Person which will be out on May 24.

The group's eldest Kim Seokjin aka Jin entered the UK Official Singles Chart with his debut solo single The Astronaut which was released on October 28, 2022. After only six hours of release in 2021, the British band Coldplay's collaboration reached the top of the iTunes top songs chart in 100 nations.

After this, the artist enlisted in the South Korean military to serve his mandatory conscription of 18 months. He is expected to return on June 12, 2024, and is reported to release his debut solo album this year.

Following them is Min Yoongi aka Suga who entered the chart with the title track Haegeum from his debut solo record D-DAY, which was released on April 21, 2024. The South Korean music producer, rapper, and songwriter also has two more tracks THAT THAT and Daechwita on the same chart.

Park Jimin entered the UK chart with Set Me Free Pt.2, Like Crazy, VIBE by Taeyang (featuring Jimin of BTS), and Angel Pt. 1—which he collaborated on with NLE Choppa, Kodak Black, JVKE, and Muni Long for the FAST X soundtrack.

Jung Hoseok aka j-hope's singles Chicken Noodle Soup and On The Street were the entrants of the US Hot 100 equivalent UK chart. Following this, More from his debut solo album Jack in The Box, and NEURON from his second solo album HOPE ON THE STREET VOL. 1 made the list as well.

Kim Taehyung aka V's latest 2024 single FRI(END)S debuted on the Official Singles Chart at No.13 on March 23. His official solo debut song Slow Dancing from his debut solo set Layover peaked at No.24 on the list last year.

Meanwhile, the group's youngest member Jungkook has five tracks Stay Alive, Left and Right by Charlie Puth (feat. Jungkook of BTS), Seven (feat. Latto), 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), TOO MUCH by The Kid Laroi (feat. Jungkook & Central Cee), and the title track Standing Next To You from his debut solo set GOLDEN grabbed their place on the UK Official Singles Chart.

Currently, the members of BTS are all serving in the South Korean military and will resume their group schedule in late 2025.
