3 moments from 2015 where John Cena's catch phrases changed lives

WWE goes Pink

These three words have been saving several lives over the yearsAn outsider one would think of WWE as just wrestling for titles, some extreme in-ring action and some exciting microphone action. Only a WWE fan would know why this thing is so amazing and what happens here. One of the best things that happen in WWE apart from WrestleMania is the social service this firm does. It contributes a lot to the society by several initiatives; talk about contributions to the “Make a Wish” foundation or their beautiful tie-up with Susan G. Komen to fight breast cancer. These two among many others were famous because of the amazing successful results they have produced over years and their continuity year after year. I would somehow bring John Cena in this mix and I don’t have any issues whether you are on the “Let’s go Cena” side or the “Cena sucks” side.I accept that I am a huge John Cena fan but a fact is a fact and you have to accept it however biased you maybe. Many guys fighting the cruellest of the diseases worldwide, at least in the WWE circles draw a lot of inspiration from John Cena. The creative team has been portraying him as an ideal role model for the kids to imitate and learn from. This has been proved time and again and as part of this slideshow, I would like to present before you 3 instances from 2015 where people drew inspiration from John’s catch phrases and overcame the odds and survived in life:

#3 Contributions to Susan G. Komen

WWE goes Pink

WWE has partnered with Susan G. Komen to fight breast cancer. In October 2015, entire WWE went pink- the wrestling gear of the superstars, the ropes in the ring, the microphone- everything turns pink. This month is also called the National Cancer Awareness month. WWE contributed One Million Dollars to this organization earlier and Cena has a pivotal role in this.

The largest share in the WWE’s merchandise sale can be attributed to Cena’s wrestling gear and in this month, people rush to buy the ‘Rise Above Cancer’ t-shirts and this is something that raises funds for this non-profit organization.

Cena was a role model to all the women and they firmly believe in Cena’s ideology of ‘Never Give Up’ and were able to put up a great fight against Cancer and become true champions in life.

Cena said ‘Rise Above Hate’ and the cancer survivors said ‘Rise Above Cancer’. Truly amazing! Isn’t it?

#2 The curious case of Kiara Grindrod

Kiara Grindrod with a John Cena T-Shirt

This happened after RAW went off air on September 14th 2015. John was referring to a 7-year-old girl, Kiara Grindrod who fought cancer and won. WWE invited her along with her father to attend the show that particular night and John made it clear to the world that her determination gave her the victory.

You see many kids in the arena wearing John Cena t-shirts and showing signboards that they love their favourite wrestler. To the eyes, we just see the shirts and signs but there is a lot of internal bonding that these kids have to the ideologies of Cena and they are actually applying these in their real lives. Ever imagined a 3-hour entertainment program could change lives this way?

Cena along with Sting met Kiara personally that night and admired her and said that she was a source of inspiration to many and the WWE universe expressed their approval for the kid’s success with their ‘Yes’ chants. Meet this young princess-

#1 The Champ brings a kid into the ring

What an emotional night that was

In the month of June 2015, when Kevin Owens was boasting over his victory at Elimination Chamber, Cena confronts him and challenges him to prove his mettle at the upcoming ‘Money in the Bank’ PPV. During the confrontation, John refers to a kid among the WWE universe and appreciates him for battling cancer.

After RAW went off air, Cena calls this very kid onto the stage and gives him the US title. He brings along with him a signboard written ‘I am beating Cancer’ and the WWE universe feels a little emotional at this inspiring scene. Once again, the three magic words, ‘Never Give Up’ are the source of inspiration to this kid and I am sure many of them will continue to emerge.
