A rematch on the cards?

Sting- The Centre of AttractionWhat was your reaction to the rumours that indicated a Sting vs Undertaker match for Summerslam?Too good to be true, right? Well, the latest rumour doing rounds on the internet is that Sting may possibly be injured and the plans have changed to make way for a Lesnar vs Undertaker match. That match will have some momentum given their extremely impactful Wrestlemania match. And since rumors also say that Lesnar won’t win the title this Sunday, it seems logical to have this match for Summerslam. But you never know what’s true and what’s not in the WWE. It may be a facade to get the fans excited if and when Sting returns. With that being said, here are 5 possible feuds for Sting at SummerSlam.

#5 Triple H

A rematch on the cards?

Let’s start with the least popular choice. We’ve already seen these two lock horns at Wrestlemania in a match which was entertaining predominantly because of all the nostalgia involved. Sting lost and it’ll be logical for him to come back and win at Summerslam. But would you really want WWE to utilize his limited appearances by putting him in the same feud again?

What works for this to happen at Summerslam is to give some post-Wrestlemania retribution on the Authority figure that is Triple H.

Other than that, this idea of having these two face each other seems outdated. But if Sting returns, it’ll be only apt to have them cross paths again, even if it is for one segment.

#4 John Cena

Another dream match await

Back when Sting made a surprise appearance at the San Diego Comic Con, one of the many questions fielded towards him was who he would like to face. Undertaker wasn’t the only one he had in mind. John Cena made his way into consideration as well. John Cena is tied with Sting when it comes to Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Most Popular Wrestler of the Year recognition.

Also, Sting indicating an interest in facing the face who runs the place is enough to get thinking on a dream match. It’ll be intriguing to see these polar opposites collide. One is a company man who’s got a squeaky clean image. The other is an angelic heroic figure with dark undertones for a character. Cena is all about the audience and leading a generation and is good at riling people up, Sting is a lone figure who silence is a statement in itself.

#3 Kevin Owens

So much nonchalance

Another polar opposite combination to that of Sting is WWE’s newest sensation Kevin Owens. The difference is that Sting is a badass babyface and Kevin Owens is a badass heel. Both of them have an all black ring gear and both of them have a strong screen presence. While Owens thrives in trash talking scenarios, Sting thrives in making his opponents wither in his silence.

Will Owens wither too? Or will Sting get intimidated by Owens’ belittling him with words?

This is a feud that can produce many interesting results and may be another achievement in young Owens’ career.

#2 Dean Ambrose

The young vs the old

This is a long shot but here’s the thing- for this to happen Ambrose should be a heel. There is no way this feud between these two will work if both of them are babyfaces. Sting is all about avenging. Remember how Ambrose was supposed to feud with Foley about how the hardcore legend ruined an entire generation by leading young men to put their bodies on the line?

We all know that Ambrose is a hardcore wrestling fan with detailed knowledge about its history. How about he plays that card with Sting? How about he uses Sting’s history against him? Talk about his face paint, that bat he carries around or just plainly mock his loss to Triple H?

#1 Undertaker

The Darkness beckons

And here is the match that started it all. This is the dream match that both Undertaker and Sting fans have been talking about for a long, long time. It is still possible and it seemed to be finally happening at Summerslam.

But there are injury rumours coming out from Sting’s corner. That may be a travesty if that’s true but if Sting’s coming back for Summerslam and so is the Undertaker, then what’s the delay, WWE?

Sure, Summerslam is no Wrestlemania but a match between these two is bigger than any PPV.

Let it happen. Create a buzz. Get a dream match going.
