5 Reasons Why AJ Lee could Move to UFC

Ever imagined seeing AJ Lee compete in UFC? A few months back it would have been a distant dream but in the current situation it is a big possibility. AJ shocked everyone with her decision to retire from professional wrestling and even though she didn’t spill out anything on her future plans, UFC is indeed a great option. There are certain factors that will drive AJ into the MMA promotion at one point or the other. Though it is a bad news for all the WWE fans out there who are expecting to see her back in the near future, here are the reasons why she might choose UFC over coming back to World Wrestling Entertainment.

#5 Nothing left in WWE

AJ Lee achieved a lot during her stay in the WWE. And the word ‘lot’ here means everything that a diva could do in the WWE. AJ made her main roster debut back in 2011 and in the four years that followed, AJ won the Divas Championship three times, was Pro Wrestling Illustrated Women of the year for 2012,2013 and 2014, won three Slammy Awards and was also ranked No.2 in the PWI’s top 50 Female wrestler of 2014.

These are achievements that not every female wrestler could boast about and AJ practically has nothing more to achieve in the company. A Hall of Fame spot might poke up as an exception but she is going to get there anyways.

#4 The Possibilities

So AJ Lee did everything she could in the WWE and has a big fan base in the wrestling community. What does she do next? She goes for something new of course. The UFC could be the perfect ‘new’ venture for her due to a handful of reasons.

First of all, she wouldn’t need much training since she already comes from an athletic background. Secondly, she will be able to expand her fan base much further and will easily become a pay-per-view draw, which she never was back in the WWE.

She will also be the first Women wrestler to make a transition from WWE to UFC and above all, we could see AJ face off against some of the greatest Straw weight champions in UFC like Joanna Jedrzejczyk (who is undefeated by the way).

#3 UFC is not scripted

One of the biggest complaints that AJ had about WWE is the scripted part. She was not happy about the way in which most of the booking decisions went by and found it hard to adjust just like her husband CM Punk. Making a move to UFC however would be an entirely different experience.

People in the backstage would have no say on how your career goes with scripted ending. If you fight well, you win and if you don’t fight well, you lose: simple as that. AJ will be responsible for whatever happens in UFC and from what we know about her, she would just love to be under such circumstances.

#2 No one is going to hold back the women

A follow up from the last point, another complaint (yeah she was full of complaints) that AJ had about WWE is the way in which they treated the women. The divas were not given enough time to wrestle and had no storyline backup whatsoever when it came to the matches. Her argument was valid enough to kick start a social media movement which has made it a comparatively better place for the divas.

The situation at UFC is what AJ was looking for in the first place. There isn’t any partiality to women when it comes to UFC as it is solely driven on the fights. A woman’s fight will be equally promoted as a man’s fight if you are good enough and both get the same platform as well.

#1 The most obvious, CM Punk

You might have seen it coming but still, here goes: CM Punk is the biggest reason why AJ Lee could join UFC. The Straight Edge superstar left WWE to venture in UFC last year and though he is still yet to make his debut, Punk looks determined to stay there for a long time.

He has already mentioned that AJ would do well in MMA and might not hesitate to pursue AJ into joining UFC. AJ making the jump to UFC would let the couple to spend more time together. And after all, which husband and wife don’t love to work at the same place? (Couples with an unhappy marriage life are an exception by the way).
