5 Things we learnt from this week's SmackDown

SmackDown will now air every Thursday, next week onwards as opposed to Friday until now.This week’s SmackDown had one exciting spoiler and that was the main event which had Reigns and Ambrose team up to fight Rollins and Big Show. This was the first time they teamed up together since June last year. The night basically belonged to all three former members of The Shield.Here are five things we learnt from this week’s SmackDown.

#5 Seeds planted for Reigns Vs Rollins

Yes, we’ve seen them fight before and though this feud didn’t have much excitement as much as the fanfare Ambrose Vs Rollins got, it was still something that would have been logical that Reigns was equally betrayed. These two might meet again for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The Championship seems at reach for both the superstars at this point and it is expected that they’ll win it this year. WWE took the wise decision of showing these two moving towards more such showdowns. They began the night with a promo segment and then ended it with a match. Expect more interactions between the two in the coming weeks/months.

#4 The Ascension may descend

Viktor and Konnor were a great part of NXT and as is the case with the main roster, many supertars who were popular in NXT, don’t really enjoy the same popularity in the main roster. The Ascension may have a lot of potential but they are very awkward on the microphone.

They try to look intimidating but you can catch the momentary lapses in their delivery. They arguably need a mouthpiece. Otherwise, it won’t really take long for them to get lost in the shuffle.

#3 It\'s time for Mizdow to be more than a stunt double

Damien Sandow is hilarious as Mizdow and he shouldn’t part ways with the Miz any time soon as The Miz is the most integral part of Sandow’s gimmick. If they separate, Sandow has nothing interesting left. It is precisely because of this that Sandow should develop more as a character.

What if he BECOMES The Miz. What if he is the most sought after star than the Miz? What if WWE makes a storyline where Sandow is getting lead offers and not Miz. This makes Sandow get promoted from being a Stunt Double to a legit star.

#2 Bad News for Barrett

Barrett suffered a clean loss against Sin Cara. I repeat- Barrett suffered a clean loss against SIN CARA.

Either this is a new storyline for Barrett where he becomes the squirmy heel, for Ziggler to come back and take his rematch or Sin Cara is in serious contention for the IC Title or maybe it is a combination of both.

It looks like this will make Ziggler an even more popular choice to win the title back and Barrett will end up being a heel where he keeps defending the title successfully by unfair means from Ziggler.

#1 Ambrose Rises from the Ashes

Ambrose is probably the most popular star on the roster who’s lost all his important matches but still gets treated like a marquee star. He is arguably popular over with the fans and he made his way to SmackDown to team up with his Shield brother Roman Reigns to take on his former brother Seth Rollins.

It was great to see Ambrose go back to take care of his unfinished business with Rollins. And it looks like there is a possibility for him to be in the title hunt as well with Rollins and Reigns. Will this lead to a triple threat main event at Wrestlemania? That’s still wishful thinking. But it does lead many to feel that Ambrose’s next project is to renew his great feud with Rollins.
