WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: 5 Superstars that could face Brock Lesnar

One of the questions that cast a big shadow over WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is about Brock Lesnar. Being the WWE champion, he is expected to be present at least for the pay-per-views that the company put together but that doesn’t seem to be the current case.He hasn’t been on the scenario after his disqualification win against John Cena at Night of Champions and the rumors suggest that he would be missing the entire year but the creative team cannot afford. They will be making all the efforts to have Lesnar make an appearance on Hell in a Cell and if they become successful in that, then the next question arises: who will be Lesnar’s opponents. With Cena, Rollins and Ambrose being involved in another storyline, here are the possible candidates to face Lesnar at HIAC.

#5 Bray Wyatt

Just like Lesnar, Bray is someone who has no storyline leading up to Hell in a Cell. The recent cryptic messages suggest that Luke Harper is sure to have some sort of match at the show but Bray still wouldn’t have something on his own.

There are rumors making the rounds about an impending face turn from Bray and there wouldn’t be a better way to start the same than having a match with Lesnar.

Both Bray and Lesnar are built up as monsters but both are poles apart.

It would be an interesting duel to look forward to and since Bray has some mysterious hobbies the company wouldn’t have much trouble in building up the feud in the two weeks that they have at their disposal before Hell in a Cell arrives.

#4 Sheamus

The Celtic Warrior has never back down from a fight. He also expressed his desire to face Lesnar recently and it wouldn’t be a surprise if WWE takes this path to keep Lesnar busy.

Sheamus and his United States championship have been in a limbo for a long time now and he has the experience of being a main event talent. There is practically no option left for Sheamus in the midcard to defend his title against as Miz would sound too predictable.

A match between Lesnar and Sheamus on the other hand would draw crowds due to the sheer physicality that would be involved.

Sheamus will not need any turns like most of the other names in the list which makes him an ideal choice to battle the beast.

#3 Jack Swagger

On the surface this might sound like a bad idea but digging deeper would tell a different story. Swagger’s recent face turn became a huge success and WWE failed to carry the momentum forward. Despite that botch, Swagger has the fans firmly behind him.

What Lesnar needs at the moment is a filler feud till the lights of Ambrose or Rollins gets freed and that filler opponent should look graceful in defeat.

Swagger meets all these requirements and he would suffer anything if he takes a loss against Lesnar. Also being in the ring with a mainstream name like Lesnar would expose Swagger into the outside world.

The Real American’s career would be back on path after this match and he could move on to something more meaningful than what he is doing now.

#2 Cesaro

A match between Cesaro and Brock Lesnar was something that the fans wanted to see as the main event of SummerSlam.

WrestleMania suggested the same when Lesnar ended Undertaker’s streak and Cesaro won the Battle royal.

Things went as planned for Lesnar afterwards but Cesaro had a forgettable run. The Swiss superman is now stuck in the mid card with Ziggler’s intercontinental championship as his only hope and a match with Lesnar would be a different level of push.

There is a common link in the form of Paul Heyman between the two superstars and it wouldn’t be hard to ignite a fire. The match wouldn’t be disappointing as well since Cesaro rarely gives a bad match.

#1 Randy Orton

After what happened at Night of Champions, Paul Heyman and his client has lost the trust that they had in the Authority.

Rollins might’ve cleared the air saying he was acting upon his own wish, but that wouldn’t make a compelling angle. In contrast, if Lesnar goes up against the power this gives him a new array of fresh opponents. Once Lesnar gets dragged into a feud with Hunter’s pack, the first thing he would most probably face is Kane or Randy Orton.

WWE will not be looking to headline with Kane as he needs to reserve it for the time when Daniel Bryan makes his return. Orton getting the pick to represent Authority against Lesnar would be nothing short of epicness these two is capable of telling a compelling story.
