WWE RAW 18th January 2016 - 3 things that worked

Lynch’s promo was the best part of the show

The Wyatt Family ended the show on a high.Let’s begin by being brutally honest - this was a terrible go-home show for one of the most awaited PPV’s of the year, and THE most terrible first go-home show for the first PPV of the year. But it had its silver linings. For example the women’s division is finally being written well. The year has seen the main roster writing team not miss much of a beat while making this feud between Charlotte and Lynch seem worth delving into. Their storyline is the best moving into the Rumble but the build up to the eponymous PPV match hasn’t been up to the mark. But, still, here are the 3 things that worked from last night’s Raw –

#1 Lynch promo

Lynch’s promo was the best part of the show

Lynch had a short match with Tamina which ended in glorious fashion for her where she very skillfully executed her submission move, The Disarmer. After winning, she asked Charlotte for a championship match at the Royal Rumble.

Of course, the champ was in no mood to let that happen. So Lynch crafted her way into getting a title shot by targeting the champ’s father who is vicariously living his wrestling career through his daughter.

He got all riled up when Lynch told him that Charlotte is no where near the greatness The Nature Boy achieved in his heyday.

This was very well done and both these women are working really well in their respective roles.

#2 Partly okay moments

McMahon and Jericho had a reunion on Raw.

Alright, it’s certainly not surprising to have Jericho back unannounced. He’s in borderline Kane/Big Show territory where there is so much predictability attached. He decided upon making a match between Roman Reigns and Rusev.

This was ridiculous all round. The only things that worked with Jericho’s presence on the show were his antics as the referee in a decent match between Rusev and Reigns and his backstage segment with Stephanie McMahon where she absolutely snapped him back to reality exclaiming it’s not 1999 anymore.

#3 Lesnar\'s appearance

Lesnar was a beaten beast on Raw

Brock Lesnar came to mercifully interrupt the appallingly redundant segment between Paul Heyman and Chris Jericho. This was followed by Roman Reigns making his way to the ring, inviting Lesnar and then wasting no time in spearing him.

The chaos that is every go-home show played out to the tee and Lesnar looked great as always in taking out the League of Nations and then again eating a spear from Reigns.

Lesnar was overwhelmed later on by the Wyatt Family. This segment worked well in showing Lesnar facing a situation he hasn’t for the longest time. This, quite frankly, humanized The Beast which is an interesting factor going into the Rumble, not to mention a good part of 2016.
