5 WWE stars who can end Triple H's career

The Game, Triple H
The Game, Triple H

Triple H is one of the most consistent performers in the history of pro-wrestling, and his 14 World Championship reigns are the testament to that. He has headlined WrestleMania, WWE's flagship pay-per-view, a record seven times, and is regarded as one of the all-time greats. HHH was a major element in uplifting the wrestling business during the Attitude Era, and since then has become a fixture of the company's main event scene.

Even at 48, Triple H is in great shape and can go for a few more matches before he ultimately retires. He is set to partner up with his wife, Stephanie McMahon against the team of Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34.

He has been the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative for WWE since 2013, as well as the founder and senior producer of NXT. With him getting more into the business aspect of WWE, the in-ring retirement angle should be on the cards soon.

Here are five superstars who are best suited to bid farewell to 'The King of Kings'.

#5 Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode signed with WWE in 2016 and began his career in NXT where he became a one-time NXT Champion, prior to his main roster call-up. His time on SmackDown Live has not been the best considering his United States Championship reign lasted only 54 days.

Roode was a dominant heel champion in NXT, something which he has not replicated on the main roster. His babyface run has been unappealing, and the WWE Universe would want to see him turn heel again.

For years Roode’s character outside of WWE has resembled that of Triple H’s during his prime. Be their appearance, style, moves, or attitude, Triple H and Bobby Roode are contrastingly similar to each other.

Bobby Roode teased a feud when Triple H was announced as the final member of Team Raw for Survivor Series. The staredown between them during the match was a monumental moment for the fans. WWE needs to book a feud between the two superstars and put Roode over to push him up to the main-event scene, and have a perfect torch-passing moment.

Roode has the prospects to be the game-changing performer in WWE. A heel turn is what got him over, and him retiring Triple H will make him the top villain of the company.

#4 Kurt Angle

In 2017, Angle returned to WWE and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 2018, he is set to team up with Ronda Rousey for a match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34.

Since Angle was appointed as the new general manager of Monday Night Raw, tensions between him and The Authority have grown stronger with Triple H taking cheap shots at Angle on multiple occasions.

Angle and HHH are no strangers to each other. Their rivalry in the early 2000s was the talking point of that time. The two have put on various amazing matches, and the modern era fans would love to see another feud between 'The Cerebral Assasin' and 'The American Hero'.

Triple H and Kurt Angle have faced each other before, but a career vs career match is what is required to fuel this rivalry further. Both superstars are nearing their retirement, and a final match between the two will be a great veteran war for the ages.

#3 Randy Orton

HHH and Orton have a long history.
HHH and Orton have a long history

There is no question about Randy Orton's dedication towards WWE. A 15-year veteran of the company, Orton has headlined multiple PPVs and has held the World Title thirteen times. 'The Apex Predator' was the biggest draw of WWE during the mid-2000s, but his recent run as a babyface has dropped him to the mid-tier status.

Orton has become stale as a babyface. He is in his comfort zone as a heel, and particularly as 'The Legend Killer'. A heel turn for Orton will finally get him out of his current stint. One of the most exciting performers on the roster, Orton has had the most success while portraying a villain, not a hero. WWE needs to bring back the Legend Killer gimmick to get him over with the crowd again and set him up at the top of the food chain.

The best first victim to the returning Legend Killer should be none other than Triple H, as The Game was his first mentor in WWE given the storyline of Evolution. Now that the student has become the master, Orton retiring HHH will make this story complete.

Orton and Triple H have shared the ring countless times, both as allies and as enemies. Now with HHH at the last stage of his in-ring career, a retirement match could see Orton taking his position as the biggest heel in the history of WWE.

#2 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens' rivalry with the McMahons has been the high point of 2017. The headbutt to Mr. McMahon was talked about around the world, and even Shane McMahon couldn't beat Owens at Hell In a Cell. The only one who can redeem the embarrassment is 'The Cerebral Assasin', Triple H.

While Owens and Sami Zayn are still "fired" from WWE, a possible angle could have both of them move to Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania. This gives WWE the perfect opportunity to have him feud with The Game. A high-profile rivalry with Owens retiring Triple H will be best for business.

Kevin Owens is the true successor to Triple H. The last pure heel in WWE, KO is a prizefighter, who has never backed down from a fight, just like HHH. The Prizefighter is just 34, which likely means that he is the future of WWE and will be featured in the main-event scene for years to come. Ending the career of someone like Triple H will be a great boost to his career.

#1 Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is possibly the best technical wrestler in the history of WWE. His journey from being a rookie in NXT to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX was inspiring and loved by the fans. He was forced to retire in 2016 due to medical issues. After two years of struggle, Bryan was formally cleared to return to in-ring competition, making it the best comeback story ever.

What better way to bring Bryan back into the squared circle than to feud him with his arch nemesis, The Authority. Bryan and Triple H have had a long-lasting rivalry, with The Game always playing mind games with The YES! Man at every opportunity he got. Whether it was calling him a B+ Wrestler or getting rid of him as the WWE Champion at SummerSlam 2013, Triple H has never shied away from belittling Bryan.

Triple H may be nearing his retirement, and his last feud with Daniel Bryan makes perfect sense. Bryan being the top fan-favourite performer today, seems like the best candidate to end Triple H's career. Something like this might go as one of the best "faces vs heels" matches.
