5 blockbuster feuds for Chris Jericho in 2018

Will the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla return for another stupendous run?

Chris Jericho is the greatest thing to happen to wrestle. The man has accomplished almost everything in his decorated wrestling career and, still continues to reinvent himself every time he steps into the squared circle. He is 47 and, just had a match of the year with 'the Cleaner', Kenny Omega at the Wrestle Kingdom 12 which only goes on to prove that he truly is 'the greatest professional wrestler of all time'.

His current WWE status is up in the air, with 'the First ever Undisputed Champion' looking to crack a major deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling(NJPW) which could be on the similar lines as Brock Lesnar's WWE deal. Well, at this age, it is impossible for Jericho to wrestle on a full-time basis but, his ability to get the audience's attention in what he does is enchanting.

If Chris Jericho decides to ever return to the WWE, then here are some blockbuster feuds he could get his teeth into

#5 Chris Jericho Vs Cesaro

C
Could Jericho finally get the Swiss Superman 'over'?

Is there anything in the world that Jericho cannot get 'over'? Well, despite being one of the most experienced veterans in the wrestling business, Chris still continues to give younger talent the push they deserve. Though, 'the King of Swing' & Jericho have competed multiple times in the ring, but, the two never had an intense big feud and, that is depressing, to say the least.

The Genetically gifted, Cesaro is an underrated performer. He has struggled to catch the imaginary 'brass ring' and, has never been pushed the way he should have been. His strong wrestling abilities speak for themselves and, if WWE ever decides to get 'the Swiss Superman' to be the main event superstar, it should be Chris Jericho that brings him to that zone.

A feud with Jericho would be a career revival for the Swiss man and, would bring more eyes to his abilities. An extraordinary performer who is struggling to find his footing Vs 'the Greatest Professional Wrestler of All Time'. Well, if booked right, then, Jericho could get the talented performer over and, make the audience & the WWE Creative care about him. Expect Jericho Vs Cesaro to be a classic feud with phenomenal matches and, brilliant storytelling.

#4 Chris Jericho Vs Shinsuke Nakamura

The King of Strong Style Vs Y2J is enough to get the fans excited

Chris Jericho Vs Shinsuke Nakamura has all the attributes to be a solid bout that could be remembered for years to come. Nakamura before debuting on the main roster did face Y2J at a WWE live event in Tokyo, Japan. The King of Strong Style got the better off the veteran that night and, both the superstars showed great sportsmanship at the end with Jericho showing respect to the Japanese sensation.

The first ever Undisputed champion recently stated in an interview with Inside The Ropes that, he was originally scheduled to face 'the King of Strong Style' at Wrestle Mania 33 but, with plans, unfortunately, getting changed, Chris then went on to face 'the Prizefighter', Kevin Owens for the United States Championship.

The fact that Jericho pitched the idea of having a match with Nakamura at Wrestle Mania only goes into proving that Chris viewed him as a top guy. If Jericho returns to the WWE, then, there is a real possibility that this match could happen. Nakamura's offensive striking abilities incorporated with Jericho's condescending mannerisms would make this encounter, a thing of beauty.

It does not matter who wins the feud because Jericho is always known for pushing other guys to the top. It could really elevate Nakamura's position with the company and, could most importantly evolve him as a character in WWE.

#3 Chris Jericho Vs Sami Zayn

The
Could Jericho & Zayn pull off a classic?

Sami's babyface persona has all the potential in the world to get him over with the WWE Universe. But, unfortunately, things didn't go the way they were supposed to and, Sami eventually turned heel to help Kevin Owens. The duo are literally getting the respect they deserve on SmackDown Live but, once they are separated, Sami will have to go back to his old roots of being a face that could never make it to the top.

Jericho has the ability to pull off a strong heel who is mean & insulting to his opponents. His recent work with Kenny Omega at NJPW portrayed him as a heel who does not take opinions and, does things on his own terms. His match with Kenny was a phenomenal battle which told the story about two guys who do not like each other. Well, if you bring that Y2J to the WWE to work against someone as talented and underrated as Zayn, then you have a money making a feud.

WWE does work on the characters journey & evolution and, 'an egotistical heel tries everything in his power to degrade the selfless baby face and his fans' storyline fits well with Chris & Sami. Both Canadians have worked before and, have displayed tremendous potential in the ring to carry a good match. Expect this to be huge for Zayn's transformation as a huge babyface with Jericho coming out as a mercenary who likes to beat hero's down. If booked right, this could be Sami's career-best feud and, it could definitely happen because Jericho can pull anything off.

#2 Chris Jericho Vs Finn Balor

Alpha Club Vs Balor Club?

It would be a shame if these two never feud inside the squared circle. Finn Balor Vs Chris Jericho sounds as exciting as an action-packed movie. This showdown needs a big marquee feel to it. Since, Finn Balor is an amazing athlete and, continues to get enormous reactions from the crowd, it is likely that a potential clash with Y2J could take him to the next level. Chris Jericho is a believer in giving back to the business and, he certainly does believe in Balor's potential like we all do.

So, WWE needs to pull the strings on this one if they want to make Balor popular with the WWE Universe and, elevate him to the top of the mountain. This feud could also be on the same lines as Jericho-Zayn but, the one thing that works for Finn and his popularity is his alter ego i.e. 'the Demon'. If a self-centered heel in the form of Jericho takes Balor to his limits, then we could see 'the First Ever Universal Champion' go to the dark side of his soul and bring back 'the Demon' within him.

Jericho recently stated in an interview that he tried to convince Vince McMahon to bring Balor to the main roster for a program. The match was also supposed to happen at Summer Slam but eventually got scrapped. Despite all the circumstances, this bout has a ton of potential and, with Jericho's wrestling days now being unfortunately numbered, a Jericho Vs Balor feud could happen.

#1 Chris Jericho Vs 'Woken' Matt Hardy

Gives
Will the Woken Warrior delete the List of Jericho?

Matthew Hardy is perhaps the most dedicated performer who has not only earned his respect between the ropes but, has also managed to keep the kayfabe alive. 'Broken' Matt Hardy has been the most talked about thing in wrestling and, as strange and comically funny the character is, it worked and brought a fresh air to the world of wrestling.

Now, the reason why this feud is on the top of our list is that of the potential this feud has. The essence of this bout lies in the characters, the characters that are so dynamically opposite to each other, that they could tell a magical story in the ring. Broken Matt Hardy who is now, 'Woken' Matt Hardy is enjoying enormous success and popularity with the WWE Universe and, has been strongly booked up until now.

A possible return of Jericho to the WWE and, a showdown with Woken Matt Hardy will truly be 'best for business'. The promos, the funny confrontations and, a solid storytelling could make this feud even better. If you put Woken Matt Hardy & Chris Jericho in a feud and, let them do what they want, then on a creative level, these two can create a gargantuan magic. Expect the List of Jericho to be 'deleted' by the 'Woken Warrior'. Well, let us dream.
