5 Signs that Seth Rollins has ousted Roman Reigns as WWE's Golden Boy

The new Golden Boy?
The new Golden Boy?

Roman Reigns has been considered the 'Golden Boy' of WWE ever since the Shield broke up in 2014 and Reigns started getting pushed heavily as a singles Superstar. The position that belonged to the 16-time World Champion John Cena was soon considered to be best-suited to the Big Dog.

From main-eventing four WrestleManias in a row to defeating multiple legends and almost every single opponent, there are many reasons Reigns is called the 'Golden Boy' of the company.

But while Roman was enjoying his moment of glory, his fellow Shield-mate Seth Rollins was slowly and steadily climbing the ranks to WWE's top. This year, in many ways, has been the best year of his career - both professionally and personally. The current Universal Champion is one of the biggest stars of the company, and you hardly see him taking a loss. There's a lot that the Architect has achieved in his relatively short career in the company.

In this article, let's take a look at the five signs that Seth Rollins has ousted Roman Reigns as WWE's Golden Boy. Feel free to share your thoughts and views in the comments section below.

#5 Dominating the Beast

The BeastSlayer!
The BeastSlayer!

There are not many men in the history of this business that can claim to have dominated the Beast Brock Lesnar. Not even Roman Reigns. But Seth Rollins does have the right to claim that.

Aptly given the nickname of "BeastSlayer", Rollins has faced and defeated Brock Lesnar multiple times throughout his career, with the most recent one coming at SummerSlam 2019 to win the Universal Championship.

This all started back at WrestleMania 31, where Seth cashed-in his Money in the Bank contract during the main event between Lesnar and Roman to end the Beast's WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign. The two again squared off later that year, but the match ended in a DQ, thanks to the Dead Man.

Jumping to the year 2019, Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble and did the unthinkable, not by only beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and winning the Universal Title, but doing that in just two and a half minutes, although with the help of some low blows.

The fact that Vince let him beat his biggest monster since 2014, twice in a year, is a big enough proof of Rollin's status at the moment.

#4 Going over Reigns in major matches

The simple logic here is if two guys are competing for the top spot, the one who beats the other wins. While the two have not faced each other for some time since both are faces and on different brands, Rollins has a better record over Reigns in big matches.

Apart from the "Heist of the Century" at WrestleMania 31, Seth has defeated Reigns in singles competition at Money in the Bank 2016 for the World Title. Last year, on the RAW before Elimination Chamber, Rollins did the unthinkable by pinning both Reigns and John Cena back-to-back during the Gauntlet match.

That was pretty much the beginning of the rise of Rollins to the top of the WWE mountain.

#3 Loved by both fans and officials

A huge fan-favorite!
A huge fan-favorite!

The biggest problem with Roman being the 'Golden Boy' was that he was never liked a lot by the fans as a singles Superstar. As has been the common saying, he was in many ways pushed down the throats of fans.

Rollins, on the other hand, is a massive fan-favorite. Considered one of the best pro-wrestlers in the world currently, the Universal champion knows how to entertain the crowd, and he puts on classic matches week after week. Add to that his amazing backstage support, both from Triple H and Vince McMahon, and it is clear why he is the new Golden boy.

Even if you compare the mic skills, Rollins brings out more passion and emotions than the Big Dog.

#2 Becoming a Double Champion multiple times

The Universal and RAW Tag Team Champion!

WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. To win a title here is a dream for many. Few are lucky to achieve this, then come those who have increased the stakes by winning two titles at a time, and then there comes Seth Freakin' Rollins.

Rollins has been a double champion three times in his career. The first one came at SummerSlam 2015, where he defeated John Cena to become the WWE and United States Champion. The second one came last year when he became the RAW Tag Team Champion while holding the Intercontinental title as well.

And the latest one of them came this week on RAW as the Universal Champion teamed up with Braun Strowman to win the RAW Tag Team Titles in the main event. Becoming a Double Champion multiple times clearly shows how much faith the officials have in him.

#1 Face of the Flagship show

Monday Night Rollins!
Monday Night Rollins!

It speaks a lot about your level in the company when you are at the center of the poster of their flagship show. Yes, no matter how much people argue, Monday Night RAW is still the bigger show, at least until SmackDown moves to the FOX Network this October.

Remember how the "Then, Now, Forever" video at the start of RAW started with a picture of John Cena, clearly indicating him to be the face of the company. The same is the case with the RAW poster on wwe.com, which has Seth Rollins at the middle of it.

Rollins is also the biggest babyface on RAW and the Universal Champion - in many ways, the face of RAW.
