Backstage update on plans for WWE Hell in a Cell PPV main events

John Cena to face Dean Ambrose at the PPV

WWE wants to have two Hell in a Cell matches at the next PPV, one with Seth Rollins and the other with Randy Orton. As we had mentioned earlier, the plan is for Dean Ambrose and John Cena to compete in a match on an upcoming RAW where the winner gets Rollins inside the cell at the PPV, while the loser gets to face Orton inside the cell as well.

Apparently the current plan is for Hell in a Cell to actually start off with Cena vs Ambrose, with the winner main eventing the show inside the cage against Rollins, while the loser, also in a cell match, would compete with Orton.

The decision to make Orton compete against the “loser” of the Cena-Ambrose match makes no sense at all. Further, it devalues Orton’s position on the current roster. Also this sounds like a match card filler. If WWE wants to have 2 cell matches, then what they can do is make Orton distract Cena in his match with Ambrose. Ambrose will get the win and face Rollins in the main event, while Cena would want redemption and can ask for an impromptu Hell in a Cell match with Orton.

WWE is looking to finalize their plans for the Hell in a Cell PPV this weekend and an announcement is expected on Monday’s edition of RAW.
