Alberto Del Rio will be going one on one against the World’s Strongest Athlete Big Show at Royal Rumble this Sunday. The odds are stacked hugely against ADR and it is going to be interesting to see how ADR manages to keep Big Show down for 10 counts.
Del Rio has already defeated Show in a Last Man Standing match in a SmackDown PPV and one important factor that assisted him in defeating the Big Show was the surprise element. Big Show wasn’t sure of what he was up against and hence the defeat. However, this time around Big Show will be ready for all possible contingencies which will make Del Rio’s chances bleaker.
However, it is quite clear that Del Rio will gain the upper hand in this bout at Royal Rumble and it is all in the hands of the creative team in shaping this up to be a ripper. Considering the previous Last Man Standing match, there were two moments that surprised many people. Firstly, it was the way ADR stood up after Big Show landed the WMD. While everyone thought that was the end of the match, ADR had a different trick up his sleeve. He rolled over to the outside and landed on his feet which shocked not only me but also several other fans watching.
The second moment of shock came by the use of weapons and finally the announcing tables. ADR used all the weapons quite well only to see them go in vain. His final bashing with the steel steps would have turned out to be useless had he not used the announcers’ table to lay the Big Show down up to the 10 count.
The question that remains now is whether ADR can repeat this? The repeat shouldn’t be anyway close to what has happened in SmackDown before. WWE Creative team has to come up with several scenarios to make sure they give us what we deserve from a match of such high stature.
Hopefully we will see Alberto Del Rio beat all odds with or without the help of Ricardo Rodirguez and comes out victorious in a completely unique way.
