New world title is not "secondary" to Roman Reigns' Undisputed Universal Championship, claims WWE legend

WWE recently introduced the new World Heavyweight Championship for RAW after Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown.

Since The Tribal Chief has been an unstoppable champion for almost 1000 days, several fans view RAW's new world title as a consolation prize to a championship that seemingly nobody can take off of Reigns.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T disagrees with this notion. On an episode of the Hall of Fame podcast, he explained why the new world title is good for the company's future.

"I don’t look at it that way [World Heavyweight Championship being a secondary title]. I just don’t. I just can’t, you know, find myself looking at the title being a secondary title or anything like that. I think pulling the trigger and separating the championship and making, you know, one brand, one for the other, I think that’s good for everybody." [H/T EWrestling News]

Except for the big WWE logo in the middle, the new World Heavyweight Championship greatly resembles the Big Gold belt design many fondly remember as WCW's number-one prize.

Seth Rollins is aiming for WWE gold

Last night on RAW, Seth Rollins won a triple threat match and then defeated Finn Balor in the show's main event to earn his shot at the new World Heavyweight Championship.

The Visionary is looking to win his first world title almost four years after losing the Universal Championship to Bray Wyatt. The two battled at Crown Jewel 2019 in Saudi Arabia.

This Friday on SmackDown, Edge, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, Austin Theory, Sheamus, and Bobby Lashley, will all look to earn a spot in the high-profile title match set to take place at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27.
